上周三，我校初中部举行了第一届中文辩论赛。辩论选手们经过报名、初选面试、培训等环节的选拔，从92名候选人中脱颖而出。最终出现在辩论赛场上的都是杭校初中部的辩论精英。

Last Wednesday, HBBSS held the first Chinese Debate Competition. The debaters were selected by a lot of rounds before, and those who could finally attend this competition were the best of those outstanding competitors.

在比赛的前一个月，八位参赛辩手和一位辩论主席为了这次比赛一直在努力训练。每天中午，当同学们吃完中饭经过培训教室时，总是能看到那些参赛辩手们在不停地练习着。

Since a month before this competition, they had been practicing about this debate competition really hard. Every noon, when students passed by the classroom, they could see debaters rehearsing and practicing. Standing on the stage, I guess all debaters were nervous, since they prepared for so long for this moment.

当他们站在这个舞台上时，一定都很紧张，这一个月来他们坚持不懈的练习都是为了这一刻。当辩论主席介绍完辩论选手们和评委后，一场激烈的比赛开始了。

这次的辩论主题是：中学生追星的利大于弊还是弊大于利。正方观点是中学生追星利大于弊。他们认为中学生合理追正能量的星，是利大于弊的。反方观点是中学生追星弊大于利。他们认为盲目追求娱乐明星会浪费很多钱与精力，还容易误入歧途。赛场上，辩手旁征博引，用大量的事例和有关数据来证明自己的观点是合理的。这体现了他们赛前的准备工作比较充分。

After introducing the debaters and the judges, a fierce rivalry started. The topic was: "Is it good or bad for middle school students to follow stars". The Pros talked about many stars could set up good examples for students to learn from their success, and the Cons talked about following stars could waste a lot of money and time. The students were well prepared; they did a lot of research in advance with data to support their statements.

30分钟的辩论赛很快就接近尾声。评委们给出了本场比赛的最终结果，反方获胜，正方三辩获得最佳辩手称号。其余各位参赛选手也分别获得了妙语连珠奖、思维敏捷奖、风采出众奖及运筹帷幄奖。观众们给予辩手们真诚的祝贺和热烈的掌声。

 After the thirty-minute debate, the judges finally decided Cons side won the competition, and the No.3 debater in Pro side won the Best Debater Award. Audience gave warm applauses for all of them.

这真是一场激动人心的比赛！同学们在观看比赛的过程中增长了见识，也学到了新知识。尽管这场比赛已经结束，但同学们还是意犹未尽，衷心期待着下一次中文辩论赛。  

The competition was genuinely exciting to watch. Students acquired new knowledge as well as broadened their horizon during the event. Even though the competition has ended already, students still talk about now and then. Everyone is looking forward to the next debate competition.
