奇文共欣赏 佳作相与析 | G7线上“好书共读”活动

2020, starting with the outbreak of the epidemic, is a special year for everyone. To ensure students’ safety during the epidemic while without stopping learning, students in HBBSS have had their online course since March. Sharing and discussing English novels during PB class has become a highlight of HBBSS’s online learning.

Under the leadership of the homeroom teachers, grade 7 students in each class chose together the book they are reading now and the way of communication.

For class 1, they cho se Selected Stories of O. Henry by the greatest short-story writer O. Henry;

For class 2, they chose And Then There Were None, a detective fiction novel telling a story about serial murders on a deserted island.

For class 3, they chose Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer, an adventure story about Magnus.

For class 4, they chose What If, a book telling serious scientific answers to absurd hypothetical questions.

Class 1, 3, and 4 share the story of each chapter in the form of presentation with PPT. Some students think that with such an interesting method, they can familiarize themselves with the book, and have deeper memory and understanding of it. What’s more, its also helpful for them to improve speaking ability and build confidence.

For class 2, they have a different way for communication. Every time their homeroom teacher assigns  reading tasks in advance, and then they have a comprehension test in PB class to check their understanding of the relevant chapters. According to students from class 2, this method, compared to presentation, can improve their academic ability through logical analysis of each chapter.

Students all agree that both forms bring considerable benefits for themselves. Abundant reading can develop reading skills, improve their cognition, and enrich their life at home during the epidemic.

Everyone is eager to go back to school and the day is coming soon.
