With a cool breeze and bright sunshine, the trip is relaxing and scenic.

                                                                                          ——Xu Zhimo

On a fall day with pleasant weather, HBBSS students took a rewarding field trip to Oriental Land, a large park in western Shanghai. Let’s see how our trip went!

An air of excitement filled the classroom as we chatted excitedly, all because we were about to embark on our autumn outing. Look how impatient and eager we were to have a great time! Soon our teachers led us to the bus to our destination. Though told the rules for the bus journey, we still couldn't hold back our excitement, laughing and playing games with each other all the way.

Look, Oriental Land is right ahead of us! We couldn’t wait to jump off the bus and head toward the entrance. Once inside, the first things that caught our eyes were the fountain and a large bridge in front of the Wisdom Avenue. Passing under the bridge, we came across a gigantic rocket launcher and several small fighter jets. Then around another bend, wow! What a massive aircraft carrier! The moment we saw it, we whooshed into the military museum. Inside were all sorts of weapons – anti-aircraft guns, mortars, tanks, and more. There was a dazzling array of military equipment. On the second floor, we saw over a dozen airplanes with their gliders, as well as a  lookout platform. From upon the platform, the surrounding scenery unfolded before us.

At lunchtime, no matter how chipper we had been before, now we all seemed a bit listless. We had a picnic on the open space outside the aircraft carrier, where we sat in groups with our classmates and shared our snacks. Some students were even playing games! They played games like "Pass the Parcel," where the person holding the parcel had to answer a Truth or Dare question. There was laughter and joy all around.

After finishing our meal, we couldn't just leave; we had to make sure to clean up our trash first!

Returning on the same path as the one we took on before lunch, we reached an area behind the fountain where bronze statues of exemplary figures stood along the roadside. While other students were reading the inscriptions on the plaques, a group led by Juliet from Class 5-4 stirred up some excitement. It turned out they were "interviewing" the statues! One student took photos, another provided voiceovers, and they were all happily engrossed in the process. After one interview was done, they quickly moved on to make the next.

At the end of Wisdom Avenue stood a tall tower. From the top of it, one could see the entire Wisdom Avenue. We marveled at the view and admired the remarkable achievements that were made by the people who built the statues.

Behind the tower, there was a vast, grassy piece of land, the final attraction. Students joyfully played and scampered around on the maze-like grass.

Although reluctant to leave, we still returned to the welcoming embrace of the school campus. In this field trip, we not only experienced joy but also gained knowledge—a truly fulfilling day!
