At 2:20 PM on April 7, 2024, the music of the piano came from the Art Center. The 2024 HBBSS New Year Piano Concert (Primary School Group) was held here, and the refreshing movement was jumping and flowing at the fingertips of the little musicians.

The first performer was Hu Yuhan from Class 3-2, who played Chopin's Waltz Op.64 No.2. The melodious waltz moved the audience, and his exquisite piano skills won the crowd’s applause.

Then Chen Zi-Chen from Class 3-3 brought a Sonatina with light and smooth tingling, which made the eyes slowly emerge like a classical manor movie scene.

Before I knew it, Xiang Millet, the next musician from Class 3-4, had already appeared. Her Mozart is A Friend of Mine. The light, medium level of Mozart is gradual and precise, and the smooth arpeggio is full of skill.

Then, Liang Hanna of class 3-4 played a Beethoven-Variations in G Major Woo 70. Her fingers quickly danced on the keys, and the melody was elegant and moving as if a butterfly danced around the audience, which was fascinating.

Then, Samul Coleridge Taylor-Impromptu in B minor, performed by Qi Zejun in class 4-1, vividly interpreted the tense and delicate atmosphere, leading the audience to rise and fall with his music and explore the mysterious world of fantasy.

One only needs to listen to 4-2 class’s Wu Yanxi’s familiar melody to leave all worries behind. The listener will be carried away in the beautiful melody of the piano, as if a gust of wind across sparkling water which reflects a full moon on its rippling surface.

Next, Zhang Kexxuan from Class 4-4 played Chopin-Mazurkas, Op.6: No 4 in A Minor. The melody progressed in the soft background color, and the rich playing language gave a reasonable interpretation of the artistic concept.

Class 4-5 Zhao Jiaxiang opened with extraordinary momentum; Maxwell Eckstein-Rhapsodie attracted the attention of the whole audience, pushing the performance to a small climax. It embodied his excellent control, sense of rhythm and explosive power.

After that, the Debussy-Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum, played by Class 5-1 Lai Yuno, flowed smoothly, retracting freely and bringing unparalleled audio-visual experience with superb piano skills.

Followed by Czerny-Op.740 No.11 was brought by Huan Jiaxin from Class 5-2. The pianist’s movements were light, and the typhoon was steady as if it had taken us into a lively classical manor in spring.

With a drastic change in musical genre, the "Jingpo Folk Song" brought by Zhang Tingyu of Class 5-2 is refreshing and utterly different from the previous few. The sense of drama in the answer is vividly playful with musical language.

The next was a 5-3 class. Jiang Chang brought Mozart-Sonata; the skilled and explosive performance also won the audience bursts of applause.

Finally, Han Haochen from Class 5-6 played Burleske. The notes seemed to flow from his fingertips, and sometimes even dance. This created in its wake an immersive and captivating atmosphere.

The students all showed their superb piano skills and excellent musical literacy, bringing an unparalleled audio-visual feast to the teachers and students present. The music group teacher conducted intensive scoring statistics on the spot and awarded the winning trophies and certificates of the concert on the spot.

This is a high recognition of professional performance, but it also places unlimited expectations on the future of rising musicians. Since then, HBBSS New Year Piano concert has come to a perfect end. We look forward to more wonderful performances from the students in the coming year!
