On May 6th, the students from Hangzhou Bay Bilingual School came to Chenshan Botanical Garden to carry out social practice activities.

Early in the morning, the teachers organized the children to have safety education activities, familiarized them with the play route, and distributed the lunch packages prepared by the school for each child to ensure we were fully prepared for the trip.

After arriving at Chenshan Botanical Garden, the students first visited Tropical Floral Pavilion, Psammogenic Plant Pavilion and Rare Plant Pavilion. Before the visit, each student was given a task sheet with pictures, characteristics and locations of different plants. They needed to find various plants on the task sheet and record the relevant information.

In Tropical Floral Pavilion, we saw quiet creeks running below the bridge, waterfalls and caves. We also enjoyed the colorful phalaenopsis, ravenala madagascariensis, strelitzia reginae and many other beautiful plants, as if we were in the mysterious tropical rain forest.

T hen we went to Psammogenic Plant Pavilion, where many drought-tolerant plants are exhibited, such as cactus, sea buckthorn and so on. We learned how these plants survive in extreme environments and appreciated the tenacity and resilience of life.

We also visited Rare Plant Pavilion, admired insectivorous plants, cycads, ferns and other rare and strange plants, and felt the beauty of evolution in nature.

Every time the students found a kind of plant, they would be overjoyed and cheerful. This "treasure" hunting activity stimulate students’ interest in plants and enable them to have a deeper understanding of botany.

At lunchtime, we came to the lawn, where the children sat together and shared their food. We enjoyed the delicious lunch and our friendship was greatly strengthened.

In the afternoon, some classes had free-time activities on the lawn. The students ran on the grass and had a relax physically and mentally. Some classes visited Mine Garden. When the students saw the waterfall running down from the top of the hill, they could not help but chant "The waterfall roars down, a trip of three thousand feet; As if the Milky Way fell from the firmament" verse to express their excitement.

Unconsciously, the spring social practice came to an end. The students reluctantly left Chenshan Botanical Garden, and the happy laughter still reverberated in everyone's heart. This social practice not only enables us to feel the charm of nature, learn a lot of plant knowledge, but also enhances the friendship between students. Let's look forward to the next wonderful trip together!
