5月 17 日下午的校园，阳光和煦。上海金山杭州湾双语学校六到八年级的英语 Spelling bee 比赛在初中部一楼大礼堂隆重举行，各班表现优异的同学参加了本次比赛。本次比赛的题目由 Mr.Augustus 、 Ms.Julia 和 Mr.Allen 三位老师精心准备，他们出的题目既考验了参赛学生的词汇量，也考验了他们的拼写能力，更考验了大家的心理素质。现场主持由 Ms.Livia 担任。

选手们完成抽签后，紧锣密鼓地接受了几次培训，老师们给选手详细地讲解比赛规则，以便选手在了解规则的情况下取得更好的成绩。随后，比赛正式开始。Mr.Atilay、 Mr.Jackie 、 Winnie 等老师以及热情加油助威的同学们坐在观众席，他们表情严肃而专注，为比赛增添了一份庄重感。他们的到场无疑也为选手们带来了几分动力。

再看一看台上，选手们也迅速完整状态调整，竞争的气氛油然而生。参赛选手们沉着应对，展现了自己的拼写实力。随着比赛的进行，评委老师Mr.Augustus、 Ms.Julia 和 Mr.Allen 对英文单词拼写解释的难度逐渐提升，竞争也更加激烈，但选手们依然表现出色。主持人 Ms.Livia 老师精准把控现场，在评委老师和选手们需要时提供帮助并解答疑惑。她以清晰、流畅的语言引导整个活动，确保了比赛的顺利进行。

经过多轮次的角逐与比拼，最终，来自7-4班的李垣墨同学凭借出色的表现赢得了比赛。她准确地拼写出了最后几个高难度的单词，也赢得了在场所有人的掌声和祝贺。随着李垣墨同学的胜利夺冠，本次拼字比赛也圆满地画上了一个句号 ……

本次比赛不仅仅是一场知识的较量，更是一次学习与成长的体验。所有参与的选手都表现出了很高的水平与素养，展现了他们对语言的热爱以及对知识的渴望。比赛的举办给老师和同学们提供了在课外之余更多交流互动的机会；同时，也激发了同学们学习单词的兴趣，让学生们展现了自己的才华，能够不断进步和成长。

The activity of the spelling bee have been in HBBSS when it is born, a tradition carried forward year after year to determine mastery of English vocabulary and spelling. As students filled the arena, the tension indicated to the significance of the competition. With evidence of meticulous preparation weaved in the detailed PPT and stirring speeches by the teachers, the stage was set for an intense showdown.

Under the eyes of the judges, the participants maneuvered their words and knowledge, each letter carefully pronounced and spelled. Every correct spelling brought cheers and every mistake brought groans. The competitors displayed not only their knowledge of vocabulary but also their ability to think quickly under pressure. The judges watched intently, their expressions revealing their appreciation for the contestants' efforts and their keen anticipation for the final results. This year, teachers opted for more challenging words, pushing students to showcase their full potential. Despite the competitive atmosphere, the contest exuded harmony and joy, with participants displaying resilience and grace even in defeat, smiling and joking with their friends playfully.

As the rounds progressed, the field narrowed to five in face of a difficult word, then two, until Momo from class 7-5 emerged triumphant, spelling a formidable word to claim the championship. Sounds of clapping and cheering and shouts of her name were mixed together in a frenzy of delight and admiration.

The impact of the competition reverberated beyond the winner's circle, fostering academic growth, forging social bonds among students, and igniting newfound passion for the English language. With each iteration promising greater benefits for the school community, the legacy of the spelling bee endures, serving as a beacon of academic excellence and camaraderie.
