Despite the lingering chill of early spring, the vibrant energy was palpable. On February 16, the faculty and students of HBBSS returned to campus with high spirits, marking the beginning of a new semester. On the first day of school, the campus was adorned with colorful flags, classrooms were spotless, the cafeteria was filled with enticing aromas, and dormitories were warm and tidy. The orderly return of teachers and students showcased the uplifting atmosphere of the new semester.

The opening ceremony commenced with the solemn national anthem.

Director Li began by sharing the remarkable achievements of HBBSS students during the winter break. Students excelled in competitions such as The High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling, CTB, CNAT, CNAP, and ESDP, bringing pride to the school.

Following this, a video showcasing the diverse and enriching winter break experiences of students across different grades was played. The video highlighted students' growth through activities such as skiing, calligraphy, and traditional music performances, reflecting the multifaceted nature of their holiday lives. HBBSS students shone brightly in various academic competitions and artistic and athletic endeavors.

Li Youran from Class 2, Grade 8, shared how she utilized her free time from reduced homework to participate in a volunteer project related to her target major. Zhang Yiheng from Class 5, Grade 7, recounted the "entrepreneurial history" of the French club. Wang Zixuan from Class 1, Grade 6, discussed her experiences transitioning from elementary to middle school and her progress in ballet. Zhuang Zixiao from Class 5, Grade 5, shared his volunteer experiences and the numerous awards he garnered during the break.

During the faculty speech segment, Chinese teacher representative Lu Feijie and foreign teacher representative Tom Latham took the stage to share their aspirations for the new semester.

Mr. Lu's light-hearted and humorous speech ignited the audience's enthusiasm: "Whether you're a 'top student' or a 'homework catch-up type,' today we all stand at a new starting point!" Drawing inspiration from the "wisdom of the Year of the Snake," he encouraged students to embrace flexibility and transformation like a snake and to face challenges with the fearlessness of Nezha, seizing opportunities in the AI era. He urged students to "discover their unique strengths and transform into heroes amidst the tides of the times." Concluding his speech, he offered a poetic blessing for the students' growth: "May the spring breeze and rain nurture the peach and plum trees, and may the Year of the Snake bring soaring achievements."

Mr. Tom shared encouraging messages from the foreign teacher teams across different grades: fifth graders were praised for their progress in poetry writing, sixth graders were commended for their rigorous academic attitude and all-around performance, seventh graders showed significant improvement in academic English and literary reading, eighth graders demonstrated outstanding academic levels, and ninth graders exhibited academic potential by tackling advanced courses. He emphasized the importance of passion for learning and good study habits, expressing hope that students would make more progress in the new semester.

During the awards time, the school recognized outstanding groups and individuals from the first semester. The first awards presented were for the best clubs, showcasing the impressive achievements of various student clubs. Subsequently, awards for academic excellence, improvement, and exemplary behavior were announced individually. Award recipients walked on stage in the sound of uplifting music, greeted by thunderous applause from the audience. Those unable to attend the ceremony witnessed the proud moments via live stream.

"The road ahead may be long, but with action, we will reach our destination; the journey may be tough, but with effort, we will succeed!" As the new semester begins, may all students explore the unknown with the "wisdom of the snake" and break boundaries with the "courage of Nezha," anchoring their direction in the waves of the AI era. Let every passion for knowledge become a star, and every step of diligent effort build a mountain. HBBSS will always stand by your side, supporting your dreams with diverse platforms and illuminating the future with innovative education. In 2025, let us together wield the pen of youth to write a unique and glorious chapter on the canvas of our times!
