At 2:20 PM on April 1, 2025, a piano feast across Baroque, classical, romantic and modern kicked off. The 2025 HBBSS New Year Piano Concert (Primary school Group) was staged in the Art Center. The young musicians opened a musical journey across time and space with their flexible fingertips.

The first performer was Chen Ziyan from Class 3-2, who played Chaminade-Arabesque No.1 In G Minor Op.61, showing a balance of skill and musicality by combining a gorgeous grace note with a smooth melody.

Next, Hu Yuhan from Class 4-2 performed Beethoven - Rondo in C Major Op.51 No.1 . The rhythm is elastic, and the light and elegant melody hides the exquisite classical structure.

Haydn-Sonata in C Major, Hob.XVI:50, played by Qiang Nuoshan from Class 4-3, showed a clear finger running, humor and a clever style blend perfectly in this piece.

Then, Chen Zichen from Class 4-3 played Chu Wanghua's adapted work "Days in the Liberated Area" for us, which closely combined the national mode with the piano texture and was full of festive atmosphere, showing the unique charm of Chinese piano music.

Later, Liu Yao from Class 4-3 played Debussy-Deux Arabesque No.1, with dreamlike arpeggios and a hazy tone, which seemed to bring everyone into an impressionist painting.

After a change of style, Xu Yiran from Class 4-3 brought us Bennett - The Child that is Born on the Sabbath Day. The piece has folk songs and spiritual elements, and the profound melody made everyone taste endless.

Before we knew it, Liang Hanna of Class 4-4 made an elegant entrance, and she brought Beethoven - Sonata No.17 in D Minor, Op.31, with intense drama and deep emotion interweaving together, showing her excellent control of strength and tone.

J.s. Bach-Prelude and Fugue in B flat, interpreted by Li Zerang from Class 5-3, is a classic of Bach's equal-rhythm works. The rigorous voice texture and grand structure show the precision and solemnization of Baroque music.

A melodious melody ripples like a lake, stretching forever. Gu Kaixin from Class 5-4 brought Tchaikovsky - June Barcarolle Op.37 No.6, and after an upbeat, dance-like beat, went quiet again.

Next, Zhang Kexuan from Class 5-4 brought J.P.Johnson-Over the Bars, syncopated rhythm and jumping bass lines, which made people can't help but swing!

Finally, Sun Yujing from Class 5-6 brought us Clementi - Sonatina in C Major, Op.6 No.3, which won bursts of applause from the audience.

From Bach's polyphonic labyrinth to Debussy's impression of light and shadow, from the joy of Chinese folk songs to the improvisational swing of jazz, this concert is not only a display of skills, but also a dialogue of diverse musical cultures. Whether you are a classical music fan or a modern jazz lover, you will find resonance here. After a heated discussion by the teachers of the music group, the young musicians were presented with the award trophies and certificates for the concert.

The third HBBSS New Year piano concert came to a successful end with the sound of the piano fading away and the lingering charm. Every award is an affirmation of professional quality, and every applause is a praise for the pursuit of art. The young musicians use their talent to prove that music is boundless and the future is promising. Thanks for the enthusiasm of the audience, let us look forward to a more wonderful performance of the students in the coming year !
