On April 8th, our school organized all students from grades 1 to 4 to visit the Art-m Cultural and Creative Park, embarking on a joyful and meaningful social practice journey. With tailored experiences for different grade levels, every child grew through play and hands-on activities, creating unforgettable spring memories.

Grade one students first visited the Star Fort Playground, themed “Little Red Army Retracing the Long March,”designed specifically for children aged 3 to 12. Following the route of the Long March, the children immersed themselves in historical scenes, having fun while gaining a genuine understanding of the hardships and greatness of the Red Army. Afterwards, the children became little gardeners, planting sunflower seedlings by loosening the soil, placing the seedlings, and watering them—each movement serious and focused.

The second-graders spent a fulfilling day blending nature with handcrafts. They began by making rapeseed flower and grass lanterns. First, they joined a mini-lecture on rapeseed flowers to learn relevant scientific knowledge. Then they started to make their own lanterns—each unique lantern brimming with spring romance and childlike charm. They also enjoyed the Star Fort Playground, retracing the Long March, where through play they remembered history and felt the spiritual strength of revolutionary forebears, weaving the red memory into their childhood.

The third and forth graders and fourth-graders transformed into little artisans and horticulturists, unlocking new skills through woodworking and gardening. In the wood-shavings lantern craft experience, the children attended a classic woodworking class, learning about wood materials and the proper use of planing tools. Under the teacher’s guidance, they carefully operated the tools—sanding, assembling, and creating. From a simple piece of wood to a delicate, every step demanded focus and patience, allowing them to appreciate the charm of traditional woodcraft and the value of the artisan spirit. The subsequent succulent“cake”making activity was even more delightful. After a horticulture mini-class covering soil mixing and flower care, the children layered soil into cake molds and planted adorable small succulents. Finally, they packed their creations into cake boxes, bringing home a piece of vitality and beauty, and experiencing the joy of nurturing life.

This social practice activity allowed children to absorb the red spirit through play, to enhance practical skills through hands-on work, and to discover beauty and growth in nature and crafts. Every smiling face and every creation became a precious imprint of childhood.
