Spring is in full bloom. The breeze no longer carries the chill of winter, and the air is filled with the fresh scent of grass and new leaves. On such a gentle morning, , our entire school set off on a spring outing—students from Grades 5 to 8 headed to the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, while Grade 9 students made their way to the LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort in Jinshan. It was a spring day like no other, blending science and creativity in the most delightful way.

On April 8, 2026, the weather was bright and clear, with a warm and pleasant breeze. The students were buzzing with excitement and joy, their hearts beating with anticipation. An hour later, students all arrived—the sleek, silver-gray Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, and the vibrant, fairy-tale-like LEGOLAND in Jinshan.

At the museum, the first stop was the Bionic Rainforest. With cascading waterfalls, gurgling streams, and lush, towering plants, it felt as if we had stepped into a real tropical rainforest. Winding along the paths, the students marveled at every detail, exclaiming in wonder. After leaving this mysterious green haven, everyone split into groups and headed to their favorite exhibition areas. In the robotics hall, students eagerly explored the principles and applications of intelligent machines, engaging with AI through interactive games and feeling the pulse of technological progress. In the Earth Hall, exquisite models drew admiration, and the hands-on demonstrations of wastewater and rainwater purification made complex concepts tangible. Everywhere, students were eager to touch, experiment, and debate, their laughter and thoughtful discussions filling the air. The entire museum became a vibrant "classroom on the move."

Meanwhile, a different kind of excitement was unfolding at LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort. Upon entering the park, the students were greeted by a "Miniland" built from millions of LEGO bricks—Shanghai’s iconic landmarks, including the Bund’s historic buildings, the Oriental Pearl Tower, and the zigzag bridge of Yu Garden, were recreated in stunning detail. It was as if a giant hand had shrunk Shanghai and placed it inside the park. Students stopped to admire the tiny windows, streetlights, and even the laundry hanging on balconies, utterly amazed. At the "Creative Workshop," an exciting challenge awaited: building a "Future City Tower" within a time limit. Some groups widened the base with three layers, tapering upward like a pyramid for stability. Others took a bolder approach, constructing a leaning tower reminiscent of Pisa—wobbly but somehow staying upright.

As the afternoon sun slanted lower, the explorations continued. At the museum’s experiment zone, students gathered around screens, watching chemical reactions in awe. In the hands-on area, some built structures, others simulated ocean waves, and a few took on fun experiments or hopped on stationary bikes. Through direct experience, the wonder and joy of science seeped into their hearts like a spring rain, planting seeds of understanding almost without their realizing it. At LEGOLAND, the "Racing Arena" saw students assembling their own cars and racing them down the track—some fell apart at the start, others veered into neighboring lanes, and a few, slow but steady, completed the course without a hitch. The "Rescue Mission" simulation was especially memorable: teams of four built a rescue vehicle, then programmed it to follow a black line to a "disaster site" and deliver supplies. When the final team succeeded on their sixth attempt, high-fives and cheers erupted—more exhilarating than acing an exam.

Time flies when you’re having fun. At 3:30 p.m., both fleets headed back. On the buses, students eagerly shared their stories—some debated whether robots might one day replace humans, while others boasted about the tallest tower or the fastest car they’d built.

This spring social practice extended the classroom into the boundless realm of science and the creative world of bricks. Under the blue sky and white clouds, the students not only relaxed their minds and bodies but also gathered the fruits of knowledge through firsthand experience. Some explored the cutting edge of science and the wonders of nature; others learned that even the wildest creativity needs a solid foundation—whether it’s a stable LEGO base or seamless teamwork. From the marvels of the rainforest and the cutting-edge exhibits to the miniature future cities built brick by brick, the message was clear: the world is vast, the unknown is infinite, and curiosity, action, and collaboration are the keys to unlocking it all. This spring, we walked not only along the road—but through knowledge.
