Textbooks Mirror the Motherland, Young Hearts Toast Its 77th Birthday

This National Day holiday, the school's Young Pioneers Brigade specially planned the themed practical activity "China in the Textbooks," inviting every student to step out of the classroom and into real life — turning the words in their textbooks into landscapes before their eyes, land beneath their feet, and culture in their hearts. Today, let us walk together into our students' "textbook discoveries."

Mountains and Rivers on the Page, Footsteps on the Road

Li Bai wrote of the waterfall "plunging down three thousand feet, as if the Silver River had fallen from the ninth heaven" — standing before Lu Mountain Waterfall, a child at last truly understands what those words mean. Lao She described Jinan's winter as "bright and cloudless" — walking the streets of Jinan, a child feels the warmth hidden in those lines. Su Shi wrote "to best compare West Lake to Xizi, whether lightly or richly adorned, she is always graceful" — boating on West Lake, a child understands why poets a thousand years ago lingered there, so reluctant to leave.

Textbooks tell of the five-star red flag rising over Tiananmen Square — standing by the Golden Water Bridge, watching the flag guard march forward in crisp, measured steps, a child truly understands why that shade of red is so moving. History books describe the Great Wall winding like a giant dragon across the high mountains — climbing the beacon tower, resting a hand on weathered ancient bricks and gazing into the distance, a child truly feels the weight and warmth of two thousand years of history...

City Trails: Finding China Right Here at Home

You don't have to travel far to make big discoveries!Step into the Natural History Museum, and the story of life's evolution in science textbooks leaps off the diagrams and becomes the real dinosaur skeletons before your eyes. Walk along the Bund, and the "modern China" written about in history books stands right there in the historic buildings on both sides of the river. Stroll through Yu Garden, and the "Jiangnan gardens" of Chinese class are revealed — pavilions, terraces, winding paths, and quiet hidden courtyards, just as the books describe.

It turns out the China in our textbooks is not far away — it is right here, all around us.

One page of textbook. One journey. One growth. This National Day holiday, our students measured mountains and rivers with their steps, discovered China with their eyes, and treasured a most special "holiday gift" in their hearts.
